Meet the Doctor

Dr. R.J. Kelly received his undergraduate degree through the University of Texas, San Jacinto Jr. College and Houston Community College. He later received his doctorate degree at Texas Chiropractic College in May of 1981. There he graduated with academic honors and had a very successful student practice at the college clinic.

Oddly enough Dr. Kelly’s first experience with Chiropractic came as the result of an ear ache. After an unsuccessful attempt at clearing his ears while scuba diving, he experienced two weeks of severe ear pain. Following encouragement by a friend, he went to a Chiropractor, was adjusted and the condition disappeared. The next event that convinced him that chiropractic was to be in his future involved his infant son. Repetitive bouts of infantile colic were resolved with a single visit to a Chiropractor. Seeing the immense benefit and service that Chiropractic could offer was all it took to redirect him to his new career.

In August of 1981 Dr. Kelly began as an associate in an existing practice. With a burning desire to help people and share the message of Chiropractic, his practice grew rapidly. In 1986 he opened his own office. His passion for his work has allowed him to speak and educate both the lay public and professionals. Dr. Kelly regularly spoke on two local television programs, and is often invited to lecture to various groups in Houston. The demand for his knowledge and enthusiasm has allowed him to present from California to Florida, from Boston Massachusetts to Montgomery Alabama and from Miami to Dallas Internationally he has spoken to groups of Doctors as far away as Canada and Russia. After 28 years in practice, Dr. Kelly has had the opportunity of caring for thousands of people including many celebrities. Many of the Houston Ballet have looked to Dr. R.J. Kelly to prevent or recover from injuries. When the San Francisco Giants are in town he is called to the stadium to take care of them. The team has labeled Dr. Kelly “The Best Chiropractor in the league.” When Kevin Grey, star of many television dramas and the lead in “Jekyl and Hyde” was in town on tour, he was seen regularly at Dr. R.J.’s. He said it was the only way he could have survived the very physical role. Jimmy Buffet and The Coral Reefer Band, The Doors along with many other entertainers, Performers and professional athletes have sought the care, council and laughter that are found at Kelly Chiropractic Center. He is now the team Chiropractor for the University of Houston track team this allows the athletes to perform at higher levels and recover from injuries more rapidly.

After 28 Years of never missing a day of practice, Dr. Kelly is still excited each morning to come and serve. He practices each day operation from two themes, “There is a cause and you are the cure” and “When Love and Chiropractic come together expect a miracle.”

He is also available for after hour visits and emergency calls. Be sure to check fee schedules.
